Speaking on Sky Sports (via Football Daily), journalist Dharmesh Sheth has dropped a major claim involving West Ham target Eddie Nketiah, confirming he will leave Arsenal this summer.

The Lowdown: West Ham join Nketiah race…

The Hammers are targeting Nketiah with the young forward’s future in north London a real point of discussion.

Reliable sources back West Ham’s interest in the Englishman, too, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently namedropping them among the sides eyeing a move.

These links are further reinforced by club insider ExWHUemployee, who detailed the story on his Patreon whilst explaining that Nketiah’s club may well sell for the right price.

Indeed, he says that the 22-year-old striker now seems all but certain to exit in this transfer window after talks over a new deal broke down.

“He will leave in this transfer window,” explained the reporter (via Football Daily).

“We understand Bayer Leverkusen and three Premier League clubs are interested.”

Furthermore, Romano revealed that West Ham are indeed still one of the teams keen on his signature in reply to this development (Twitter).

The Verdict: What West Ham need?

The Irons should be prioritising the signing of a proven, prolific goal scorer with plenty of first team football under his belt.

While Nketiah has enjoyed flashes of brilliance for both Arsenal and Leeds United (on loan), we believe the young forward shouldn’t become West Ham’s only striker signing this window, despite manager Mikel Arteta calling him ‘powerful’ last year (The Metro).

Nketiah started just four Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium over 2020/2021, scoring two goals in that time (WhoScored), and these numbers arguably don’t point to the answer for West Ham’s striking dilemma.
