Highly regarded amongst the players,his departure will be a great loss for Sri Lanka cricket.Although he has not ruled out further employment with Sri Lankan cricket,possibly in a consultative or developmental role, he is expected to returnhome to Australia.Kontouri, a graduate of La Trobe University in Melbourne, worked at theVictorian Institute of Sport before coming to Sri Lanka alongside coach DavWhatmore in November 1995.Apart from being responsible for the day-to-day fitness and the overallhealth of the national players, Kontouri has initiated and driven a projectto establish a professional network of regional cricket physiotherapiststhroughout Sri Lanka to serve outstation cricketers.
